The 1/4 elliptic spring will work just fine in the front or rear with tall skinny or short fat tires if installed correctly. But i used 57 chevy springs and cut them in half,using the stiffer shorter front half for the front and the longer in the rear. I guess the only thing that caused problems was hanging the springs from the axel with a shackle.
